Welcome to Voss Home Bakery

I’m so glad you’re here!

Hey there! I'm Anne. I am a self-taught home baker sharing recipes to make life even sweeter!

About Me

I currently work as a full-time biologist who has a serious baking obsession. At work, I weigh out chemicals in the laboratory, but at home, I am weighing out cups of flour and sugar. It is not surprising that I love to bake since baking is both a science and an art.

When I was a teenager, I started watching cooking and baking shows on TV. Through high school and college, I baked occasionally but nothing too serious.

When I later got married, I was inspired by my mother-in-law and wanted to bake my husband treats from his childhood. My mother-in-law is an exceptional baker! I baked now and again with some success and a few epic failures (peppermint popcorn I’m talking about you!)

In 2020, during the start of the pandemic, I had a lot of time spent at home. I decided to dive right in and actually try baking items I had seen on TV or on social media. I had always wanted to make a layered cake. Not the two-layer birthday cake I made in high school, but the tall cake with straight sides and impeccably smooth icing that seemed terrifying. My first cake was overly sweet and plain, but I enjoyed the challenge. Over the past few years, I have been making desserts for friends, coworkers, and neighbors.

I love the sense of accomplishment when a recipe is successful, and have learned that perfection is not the goal. I enjoy sharing recipes and connecting with people through baking, therefore I started this blog in 2022.

the smell of baking”

My Blog

On my blog you will find a wide variety of recipes – some are completely made from scratch and others use box mixes or take shortcuts. I think the results are delicious either way and all that matters is you enjoy your time in the kitchen.

Rest assured my recipes have been tested numerous times (my coworkers are happy about that fact!) because I want to provide you with recipes you can trust. Grab your mixing bowls, tie on your apron, and let's get baking.
